Arthur Leslie DAW (SN 528) was a miner from Grant Street, Golden Point. He was 34 years of age, married to Mabel, when he enlisted in September 1915. He trained with the Mining Corps and sailed from Australia aboard the Ulysses in February 1916. He was serving with the 2nd Tunnelling Company when he was wounded in action, gassed, in July 1917. He was evacuated to hospital in England where he was assessed as unfit for further active service. He left England in November, reached Melbourne in January 1918 and was discharged in February. He died in July 1928 aged 47.
