Christopher William TUDOR (SN 4320) was born at Miners Rest but, as a 22 year old baker, was living in Darling Street Ballarat when he enlisted on July 14th 1915. His training took him to Ballarat, Williamstown and Broadmeadows before he was allocated to 14th Battalion reinforcements. He embarked from Melbourne on the Demosthenes on December 29th, disembarking in Egypt. In April 1916 he joined the 4th Division Field Bakeries and in June he moved to France. In September he was experiencing headaches and after unsuccessful treatment in France, he was evacuated to the 3rd Western General Hospital in England. It was not until June 1918 that he returned to France. In August, after several previous misdemeanours, he forfeited 14 day’s pay after being found ‘in town without a pass’. After the war he returned home on the Persic, disembarking at Melbourne on August 29th 1919. He was 51 years of age when he died in June 1944.
