Civil Celebrant and Justice of the Peace

19/01/2023
Patricia Anne Cunningham was born in Ballarat on the 15th December 1942.  She grew up in Ballarat and attended the Dana Street Primary School followed by Ballarat High School.

In 1976, she was struck by the realisation that there were few options for couples wishing to be married outside of the church and she decided to do whatever was necessary to become a Civil Celebrant.  That same year, she applied for registration to the Federal Government and this was granted two years later.  In her time Patricia would have conducted more than 4000 marriage ceremonies, at least 4000 naming ceremonies and a significant number of funerals later in her career.

Mrs Anderson was also appointed a Justice of the Peace.

Patricia passed away on the 25th June 2019.  She was laid to rest at the Ballarat New Cemetery Lawn F Row 25 Grave 02.

She is survived by husband Keith Anderson, daughter Julie, step-children Robert, Jenny, Peter and Ann-Maree and 13 grand-children.
